Children's Swimming Lessons

Swimming Lessons are currently postponed and pending demand, will return at the end of the Government Roadmap when social distancing rules are predicted to relax - June 21st 2021.

We know safety is at the front of your mind – but rest assured it’s at the front of ours too. All of our instructors are highly trained and are always on hand to make sure your children are safe, happy and making progress. So whilst they enjoy our lessons you can enjoy yourself safe in the knowledge that your children are well cared for.

Here at Bodyscene, we offer swimming lessons for children 5-15 years as well as parent & toddler classes 0-4 years to give your kids confidence to take their water skills to the next stage.

Our lessons are delivered in stages of ability. At the end of each stage your child will have achieved the following:

Stage 1

Developed basic safety in the water in a small class environment, learn basic water confidence and movement skills, swimmers will use a variety of water aids.

 

Stage 2

Develop safe entries into water including jumping in, basic floating techniques, travel and rotation unaided to

Gain an upright position in the water. Swimmers may use floating aids.

 

Stage 3

Develop safe entries to include submersion, travel up to 10 metres on their front and back, progress rotation skills and water safety knowledge.

 

Stage 4

Develop the understanding of buoyancy through a variety of skill , refining kicking techniques for all strokes,

Swim 10 metres to a given standard by the ASA, to tread water for 1 minute.

 

Stage 5

Developing waterman ship through sculling and treading water skills and complete rotation, performing all four stroke to a given standard by the ASA.

 

Stage 6

Developing effective swimming skills including to coordinate breathing, develop water safety aspects and preparation to exercise.

 

Stage 7

Develop quality stroke technique up to 100 meters, incorporating skills learnt and combining them to develop a linked routine and complete an obstacle course that combines a variety of skills learnt through stages 1-7.

 

Stage 8

The aim is to consolidate aquatic skills and teach controlled breathing to the pupils so they can swim, competently, using correct or basic standard techniques on three of the main stokes over a standard distance of 25 metres and on butterfly over 10 metres. In addition turns and essential safe foundation practices for diving are introduces.
